Whale watching in the wild and pristine waters of Icy Strait, where Humpback whales are abundant and sighted on every trip, with small business owner Captain Josh! Otter and Steller Sea Lions are also very common, with Orcas, Brown Bears, and other wildlife frequently sighted!

Owned and operated by our own Captain Josh, he will be your personal guide as he navigates the wilderness waters of Icy strait. What makes his tours special is the energy he has and the creative ways he finds to show you his beloved wildlife, so that you can really see and appreciate these creatures with him, and to make every tour amazing.

His 14 passenger vessel was designed specifically for whale watching on Alaska's waters, and will provide a safe and stable viewing platform for you. He also provides the one truly Drone-integrated whale watching tour in the world, providing you with views and videos of wildlife that are truly unique, and at the end of it, you get to take the footage from your tour home!

I have wanted to see whales for years and this was our opportunity. It certainly didn’t disappoint. Josh was extremely knowledgeable and took all the time to let us video and photograph the whales, we saw Orcas and sea lions as well. He is very enterprising with his drone and the footage he sent us was incredible. I would recommend him above any other trips as he has a smaller boat which allowed us to get closer to the whales, in fact, they swam right under us! What a lovely guy and his assistant was great too(so sorry, I can’t remember his name, was it Pearce?) It was all very personal and highly professional, I wish him every success in his future endeavours and hope that this review gets him loads of new customers as he deserves it.

Captain Josh, his first mate Patrick, and this tour are cool af. We really wanted to see orcas and C Josh made our day. He asked the other boats in the area if they had any orca leads and sure enough we were lucky enough to catch them on their journey. We were also able to see humpback wales, sea lions, otters, seals, and eagles! Patrick is bilingual (Spanish/ English) and interpreted the information for a Peruvian couple that was on the boat. This made the tour even that much more special to me knowing they’re able to accommodate more than just English speakers. This tour is rad, you should book it 100%.

We were visiting via a Cruise and once we found the collection point at Icy Point Strait we were collected and transported a short distance to Hoonah were we met Captain Josh's crew. Even though we were the only people booked on the tour that afternoon it was no problem and we were then introduced to Josh before boarding the boat. The tour was amazing after Josh had located the whales we were off to the area they had been spotted and we seen a pod of 3 whales all feeding and managed to captue many amazing memories both on our camera and what Captain Josh had captured from up above using the drone giving a completely different perspective than any other whale tour can offer. We made many sightings of whales and also a playful seal as well as a load of seals taking a break on a buoy. This was an amazing experience and once back on board the Cruise and we shared photos with other passengers who had gone on Cruise arranged whale watching tours we had managed to see a lot more and we were also a lot closer to the action. Don't think about it, if you have the chance go on this tour you won't be disappointed.
