This was such an insightful and engaging walking tour. This tour was exactly the type of experience I love to seek out when traveling—one that uncovers concealed Black stories while also celebrating beauty, excellence, and resilience beyond the lens of hardship and slavery. I booked this tour last minute because I wanted to leave Charleston on a more uplifting note, considering I took another Black history tour that focused almost exclusively on slavery. I truly appreciated how Dr. Fordham masterfully wove together history, music, and storytelling to create such a rich and immersive experience. It was both informative and inspiring, and I left with a deeper appreciation for the area and its history. There are sooooo many tours in Charleston and several Black history tours, you MUST take this one!
