Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Steve was a fantastic guide - so knowledgeable taking us through the mangroves of Estero Bay. We saw manatees and lots of birds. He explained the habitat and ecosystems. There were 6 women-2 who had no experience. He was patient and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Tour, my wife and I always try to take a kayak tour. Taking a guided tour makes the experience much more educational, and Stephen pointed out things we would have missed on our own. He also gave us the history of the area. He knew where to look for Manatees and other sea creatures. The money spent for the guide to see more and learn more is worth every dollar.

Highly recommend a guided tour through Lover's Key with Stephen and his sidekick canine Bowser. There is no way we would have recognized the amazing wildlife hiding within these estuaries or understood the habitat. The highlight was a juvenile manatee that chose to hang out with us for about 15-20 minutes! Never kayaking before, but was no problem maneuvering through the estuary. Stephen shared his knowledge on the history and natural environment of Lover's Key while keeping an eye out for the wildlife within. We saw more manatees, a dolphin, jellyfish, starfish, lightning whelk, and several other fish and birds. Certainly the highlight of our trip. Tour lasted about 2 hours. He even took pics and videos and forwarded them to us.
