Lower Loop Van Tour from West Yellowstone: Grand Prismatic and Old Faithful

Overview

This Active Van Tour is a great way to see Yellowstone National Park beginning in the fun gateway town of West Yellowstone. The early morning part of the tour explores wildlife haunts in the famous Shadow Canyon of the Madison River. This area is home to bear and elk. Later we hike to an overlook of the famous Grand Prismatic Hot Springs. If you don't feel like walking we find a safe, scenic spot for you to wait for the group near the van. Next we explore the Old Faithful area, including some time at the famous Old Faithful Inn. We continue over the continental divide at Isa Lake and down to the West Thumb Geyser Basin on Yellowstone Lake for a view of some spectacular lakeside thermal pools. Continuing our drive along Yellowstone Lake we arrive in the Hayden Valley where big herds of bison roam. Finally, we arrive at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to view the canyon and the amazing falls (one is almost 200 feet tall!). The day concludes back at West Yellowstone.

The guide was very knowledgeable but immature. I would have thought that remembering to clean the vans windshield before the tour began should have been a no brainer. Morning tea was pretty much forgotten and the lunch, for what we paid for the tour, was very underwhelming. They could have done better for the cost.

Thank you for review. Cleaning the windows is a core tenant of Yellowstone Hiking Guides values. We will talk with the guide about making sure to clean the windows. Lunch is a turkey sandwich, apple, bag of nuts, nut bar, gummy bears, and some candies. This is one of the most affordable tours in the Park, but we also strive to make it the best, as well, so thank you for your valuable feedback.

Total nightmare. They didn’t show up. Couldn’t get them for 30 minutes and then they canceled. Meet another couple and learned that same thing happened to them. Pls don’t give them a top rating

Sometimes mother nature can throw you a curve ball. In this case the guide hit an elk on the way to meet you. We have many areas that are out of cell range in this region. We are very sorry you had to wait for a half hour and that we had to cancel. The other couple you met were scheduled to be in your van and on your tour. They were affected by this same situation, as I also informed them. You were both, of course, notified and refunded about this unusual situation.
