What To Expect
1
Adventures on the Gorge
Meet your rafting trip leader at the departure point. You will listen to a brief orientation and get your gear (personal flotation device, helmet and paddle). Then, you will have a 30-minute ride on a school bus down to the river put-in. Your guide will go over additional instructions once you get in the raft. The trip begins with a few smaller class I-III rapids as you ease into paddling and working as a team. Then, you hit some bigger rapids rated class IV-V. About half way through the trip, your trip will pull over and eat a deli-style lunch on the shore. After lunch, you will continue downstream into the heart of the Gorge. Here you’ll go through several rapids rated class III-V.  Between rapids, there is time for swimming, floating and maybe (based on water levels) jumping off of rocks. The trip ends just past the New River Gorge Bridge.

Half day white water rafting trip started at 8 am. From the time we met at the start to the very end this was a very professionally run trip. Our guide, Ark, was so much fun to be around and informed us of everything we need to know the whole way. The guides really make theses trips. The whole operation is top notch. There is risk involved and they will make sure you know what to expect and watch out for. I wound do this again for sure.

Tanzy and Ray Ray did a great job with our group. The trip from the briefing and introduction till the end was a fun experience. Lunch was good and the guides were sure to accommodate a food allergy (serious nut allergy) in our group by holding onto medication and accommodating them getting food before the rest of the group. We had a blast and would recommend the trip and are hoping to return to raft the Gauley Rivers ourselves.

First time staying at Adventures on the Gorge in the 1 bdrm outback cabin. We had a great time. Every staff member was super nice and helpful. Front desk helpful planning activities and directions. Cabin has full kitchen and a hot tub. There are hiking trails behind the property that lead to a nice creek for fishing and scrambling. There is so much to do at the resort you never have to leave. Highlight was whitewater rafting lower river day trip. We had never done before and we were definitely nervous. RayRay was our guide. He was great! Very knowledgeable about the history of the area and gave us some good pointers for our vacation. More importantly we felt completely safe with him and that helped us enjoy the trip even more. We would def do it again. Thanks for a great trip!
