What To Expect

Adventures on the Gorge

Meet your rafting trip leader at the departure point. You will listen to a brief orientation and get your gear (personal flotation device, helmet and paddle). Then, you will have a 30-minute ride on a school bus down to the river put-in. Your guide will go over additional instructions once you get in the raft. The trip begins with a few smaller class I-III rapids as you ease into paddling and working as a team. Then, you hit some bigger rapids rated class IV-V. About half way through the trip, your trip will pull over and eat a deli-style lunch on the shore. After lunch, you will continue downstream into the heart of the Gorge. Here you’ll go through several rapids rated class III-V. Between rapids, there is time for swimming, floating and maybe (based on water levels) jumping off of rocks. The trip ends just past the New River Gorge Bridge.

This Whitewater rafting experience was excellent! Linq was our main guide who went out on the bus and told us every single thing that could happen. That was kind of terrifying but he prepared us well for the seriousness of our adventure. Joe was our expert guide in the boat. He was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and we felt comfortable knowing he had 23 years of experience on the river. He did a great job getting us through the rapids. He did a great job and we felt very safe with him. The whole experience was great and they even played a movie at the end of our river ride. We felt very safe with our helmets and well fitting life jackets. There is a 3rd party company that you can buy pictures from also.

Tour guide Seth made the trip fantastic. Not to mention the breathtaking scenes. It is a must do. There are thrills around every bend with relaxing rest to catch your composure.
