Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

We were quite disappointed with this luau especially since the price is so high. There were 5 of us and we did pay for better seats which were right next to the stage but we paid $900 for this experience and it was not worth the money! The staff is friendly and the venue is nice but the food options were limited and you didn’t have much time to eat. They also cut off the bar before the show starts and give you tiny drinks. The show itself is weird and the story line is not great. Basically a knock off of Moana. The dancers are not in good shape at all and the guy throwing the fire let go of one of the sticks and accidentally threw it out into the audience. I have been to another luau on the island and it was way better! Don’t waste your money on this show.

Very good show on beautiful property. I appreciated the pamphlet that explained the story. The food is a buffet and is ok. Venue holds a lot of people so long lines and not as intimate. There are vendors who sell crafts prior to the show. I prefer other shows that teach crafts and roast the pig prior to the show . Overall was enjoyable.
