Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

The review is based on how much they charge for this evening. For the cost, where food is included - it fell far short. 1) The menu in their site does not match the actual food served. We booked with the understanding our daughters will have enough to eat but they did not. 2) They ran out of food!!! We were one of the last set invited up to the food tables - and lots of dishes were missing and not replaced. Esp mac salad - one of the few veg options was gone before we got there so be aware. 3) Everyone observed this happening so there was an immediate rush to desserts where people piled high their plates w desserts - within seconds of the desserts being placed. At $500+ for our family of 4, that’s an embarrassment. The food was so badly organized (poor planning, logistics, replacement operations) that it was cringeworthy given the high cost. The performers and entertainment for the last 45 min was amazing and wonderful. But the preceding hours - were at best “eh”. Open bar was well run, if not well stocked. NOTE: We complained during the evening re: food situation. Husband got a small plate of Mac salad from kitchen directly - but it was very late and his own food went cold bc of that time spent getting his kids food. Floor manager refunded us 1 adult and 1 child ticket to make it better. End result is my children enjoyed the show but did not eat much, and my husband ate cold food. A little too $$$$$ for this, even after partial refund.

The show was amazing!! The food was great and so were the desserts. I liked how they had venders there too to shop!
