Luau Kalamaku with Buffet Dinner & Show

Overview
Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

Show was good but the food was just average and drinks awful. Too many people. Tables were unorganized and we were sat way in the back.

The food was not good. The show was so so. This was not done on the beach (which we knew going in). It was significantly hotter and more humid under the “building” than outside. So hot that we left early. Drinks are also pretty bad. I’ve seen several luaus and this was by far the worst.

This luau was a lot of fun. It was like being at a huge wedding reception. (see photo) The people there were lovely, the food was good but not the traditional food I expected. (like a pig or poi ) There was pulled pork, teriyaki chicken, some white fish, potato salad, salad, fruit a few little desserts. Open bar that offered limited drinks, rum punch, blue Hawaiian & a few others. The ground were beautiful. There were several stands to buy items, jewelry, artwork, bags, even a henna tattoo. The show had good storytelling, music and dance. Glad I experienced it, but would not rush to go back.
