Reserved thru Viator; $400 for 2; went on Friday, May 20, 2022. If you've never been to a luau show, this is a good opportunity. Performers and performance were very good/authentic. Buffet meal good and efficient considering 500+ served. Train ride was 40 minutes; informative; but more fun for children. Check-in for assigned dinner table and train ride were easy. Service and friendliness were excellent. Downside: Too $$$ in our opinion. This is a very commercialized experience under an immense pavillion that seats at least 500; nothing intimate. Our table (441) was about as far away from the stage (and bar) as you could get. Luckily we were elevated; unlucky that when the show starts (7:30pm) you may need bug spray (we were close to the exit). Drinks are free free, but only one at a time, so it was 2 trips to the bar for me to get drinks for 2. We were picked up at our hotel (a plus), but arrived too late to visit local artisans selling their wares and take the train ride. When the train ride was over, it was meal time, then show time, then departure. Suggest going early (4pm) to the plantation so you can get seats closer to the stage, take the train ride, still have time to shop the artisan wares, and take pictures. Gaylord's restaurant (on site) is well-rated and an option, but reserve early!...We tried 2 weeks in advance, but nothing available. We talked about our experience with another couple who felt similar. They like us, were told that this was the best luau on Kauai.
