Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

It was well organized chaos. The show was good but wish there were more male fire dancers. The food was fine. Fish tasted like eggs, though. There was a mix up with our tables and we wereseated away from our friends. The staff eventually did reseat us so we could sit with the party we came with but it was obvious he was unhappy about doing it.

The show was absolutely amazing - including the fire dancers! We also did the train tour, which was a great opportunity to see the grounds. We elected to get picked up from our hotel, which meant we got there right when the train was about to leave and felt like we were being rushed from the bus to the train to the dinner. I wish we had more time to look around and enjoy the bar. The food was pretty good. There were over 500 people there, and I was hoping for something a little more intimate. The performers were top-knotch, but some other aspects were a little lacking.

Great show, it is more of a play then the luau that I have seen before. Would recommend to anyone. Food was good, no poi. Enjoyed the vendors also.
