Overview

Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The 45-minute main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

Show was the BEST very well done! Food wasn’t great, chicken and pork and salad was good everything else wasn’t. Open bar was efficient and good. We lucked out and got our own table otherwise assigned seating. It was a memorable experience for the show so don’t go for the food though!

Had a great time at this luau. We arrived just before 5pm and the lines to get in were growing steadily but moved quickly due to the efficient staff. Once we got in, we were greeted and showed to our seats, and the staff pointed out other areas such as the bar and bathrooms. Open bar line seemed strong - but again the staff is so efficient that it moved very quickly. One thing to pay attention to (and it is mentioned in their details ) is that they will only serve you one drink per person per visit to the bar....so no double fisting unless you put your drink down and get back in line. Drinks were made well and strong though so no need to do that really. Food was good, served "buffet style" but there is not necessarily time to go up and get a second plate as they cover up the dinner food and change over to dessert very quickly. I would recommend taking two plates from the get go ( that's what my husband and I did - probably looked gluttonous but we didn't care when we realized we wouldn't be able to get any seconds - though to the staff's defense, we didn't ask about the dinner food being covered up). Entertainment throughout the evening was lovely- there were local artisans selling goods/"craft fair" to stroll through prior to the show. Live musicians and dancers began around 6:15-6:30, with dinner service shortly after and the main show at 7:30. The performers were wonderful and the show was very moving. Overall, I would hands down recommend this luau to anyone visiting Kaua'i!!
