My husband and I took the Na Pali Coast sunset dinner cruise to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We were lucky enough to get Captain Kauai on the Lucky Lady, a beautiful catamaran. The Captain and crew were very attentive and caring. The views were fantastic and Captain Kauai took the boat very close so we could get great pictures of the coast and sea caves. Unfortunately his microphone failed and we did not get all the narration we had hoped for, but no matter. Everything was still perfect. The crew: Kim, Matthew, and one other (sorry) took great care of us. The buffet was fine. The main thing was for us to see the Na Pali Coast which we did, up close and personal, and the sunset. We also saw green sea turtles and spinner dolphins. I would love to go again with this captain the next time we visit Kauai. We loved it.

No kidding. Our exuberant captain was named Kauai, a native Hawaiian who has many stories about the island and the people. His crew was Kimo, Alex and Nathanā€”-truly attentive genial staff. The catamaran was named LUCKY LADY. We left about 2:15 out of Port Allen. We motored along the coast to some narration about sugar production, the story of the Hawaiian concept of the afterlife and Kauai geologic development. The 3 shipmates passed around endless Mai Tais, soft drinks and water and snacks of cheese and crackers and pretzels. Captain Kauai told us about the natives and their trades- rope making, canoe building, weapon making, etc- and daily life as well as their ancestors. He made the area which is lushly dramatic with jutting spires and spiky ridges come alive. We reached this one cove where he blessed newlyweds with a shower from a waterfall that fell into the water. Amazing maneuvering. All the other boats were yards off the coast and we were jutting near to it. Captain Kauai promised us a memorable trip and he delivered. Our dinner was a buffet on the main deck. Delicious. More Mai Tais. We ran into a pod of spinner dolphins which the captain gave us plenty of time to observe. Then the sunset which Captain Kauai again let us linger and enjoy all the while playing a combination of soft rock and traditional Hawaiian music. The only thing which would improve this trip is comfortable seats but it makes sense to have easily washable benches. Soā€”-my suggestionā€”-bring a thick towel or something soft for your bottom. Also, as expected, it got chilly after the sun setā€”-so bring a jacket. This was the friendliest best narrated and most enjoyable boat trip you could possibly want to take of the Na Pili coast. Worth every cent.

Captain Jeff and his crew - Kim, Nathan and Scott were fun, informative, and safety conscious. They took great photos of us with the jaw-droppingly beautiful Na Pali cliffs as our backdrop. The food and beverages were excellent & plentiful. Capt Jeff took time for us to enjoy green sea turtles, humpback whales & dolphins frolicking in the turquoise blue ocean. It was a wonderful evening - highly recommend you make time for this adventure. The Na Pali coast is best seen from the water to truly appreciate the massive cliffs, verdant valleys & ocean carved sea caves.
