Drive down the beautiful Parkway and stop, if desired, for a short walk along the Potomac River

Alexandria

A driving tour of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, will provide an introduction to this beautiful historic colonial seaport just outside Washington, D.C.

George Mason's Gunston Hall

Home of George Mason, responsible for the Bill of Rights

Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House

Woodlawn Plantation is the home built by George Washington for his step-granddaughter, Nellie Custis. The Pope-Leighey House was a "Usionian" home built by Frank Lloyd Wright for the "average man."

Pohick Church

Church, built in 1774, where George Washington worshipped and was a vestryman.

The National Museum of the United States Army

This museum celebrates the more than 245 year history of the United States Army. It includes displays on all the nation's wars from the Revolution to the War on Terrorism and fighting in the Middle East. The museum includes a landing craft from D-Day, a Sherman Tank, a part of the Berlin Wall, and much more. Tickets are limited.

WOW-what a wonderful tour. I have been to Mt. Vernon before, but I really learned more this tour that the 2 previous trips combined. Kenneth was knowledgeable, professional and so very interesting.I can not recommend enough!

Many thanks! Yes, I worked as a Mount Vernon history interpreter for two years before starting my own company for private tours. I never tire of visiting the beautiful Estate!

The guide/owner, Ken, was amazing. He provided tons of information we didnt know about Mount Vernon and Gen. Washington's life. Ken kept the trip interesting and fun. One of the best parts was we weren't crowded with a hundred other people in a tour bus. We saw those people that day and felt sorry for them as they rushed around and pushed each other trying to be the one's to hear the information given by one person. In fact, my wife and I were the only ones. Ken provided so much info just on the ride to Mount Vernon that it made the tour just that much more pleasurable since we could focus on newer things we didnt know about. When we finished the tour of the mansion, we met up with Ken again and we walked the rest of the grounds with him guiding and teaching us. I really can't say too many good things about this tour. Highly recommended.
