This is one of the best walking city tours I have even been on! Dom Gervasi is the owner/operator of this and two other "Made In Brooklyn" tours. As not only a native of Brooklyn, but also a tour guide who has studied Brooklyn as an adult and uses the tour to not only share fascinating history about Brooklyn but also to promote the gems of businesses and individuals that make this area so amazing. He even introduced us to CAM, the graffiti artist that has the city contract to paint art of walls around Brooklyn! A DO NOT MISS tour!

As a former NYC tour guide, I can say that Made in Brooklyn's Dom Gervasi is a gem. He has researched his tours extensively and paints a wonderful portrait of each neighborhood's past, at the same time exploring all that's going on currently. His points of interest may not be typical (monuments, churches, etc.) but they are so relevant and interesting. Where else would you get to see the inside of an e-waste facility? So cool. I've done four out of five of his tours and look forward to doing the fifth. In fact, I wish he would develop some more for other neighborhoods. Go on one of his tours, whether you are a tourist or a native New Yorker, you will learn lots about the wonderful land of Brooklyn!

My family and I took the Red Hook tour - 9 persons including a 12 and 16 year old, on a recent Sunday. Dom is an historian tour guide and has made arrangements with key artisans in the area to let you into their workshops - their products are unique and quite different from one another. The "makers" theselves are from different parts of the country but have made their way to Red Hook where the 19th century warehouse venues seem to be a perfect venue for their work. This would be a great tour for anyone interested in design. One stop - "She Welds" - offers blacksmithing classes, really neat. Dom relates a good amount of local geographic, economic and social history along the way. The area is quite safe and is a short drive from the BQE if one drives. This tour is literally olong the waterfront, the best views of the Statue of Liberty and Givernors Island from Brooklyn. There are local restaurants on Van Brunt Street that are worth a try. Highly recommend for a afternoon. Skip the flea markets and the "smorgasburg" in other parts of Brooklyn, this tour is more interesting and we'll try another area in the future..
