Enjoyed the gardens and especially the Audubon Swamp. We didn’t do the tour, just wandered for hours. Lovely ! However - the strange huge Chinese installation did not fit in at all, it was an eyesore in an otherwise pretty estate.

Thank you for your feedback. The Chinese installation is referring to a annual lantern festival that Magnolia has in the evening after regular tours. It takes months to set up, so it does remain during the day. It's beautiful illuminated at night, but does not really have anything to do with the history of the plantation or grounds other than they have created some lanterns that honor that. This will be running until March 15 after which they will remove the lanterns.

Tour guide was excellent, made sure group stayed together well and he had 30 years of living in area to explain some of the local knowledge. Excellent view of a how a lowland plantation would have been set up, specifically a "non-cotton" primarily. The grounds are breathtaking and the home is excellent.
