I've been around Islands and the sea my whole life, and have sailed and kayaked with many a good sailor and guide. John Shappell is the best of the best. He knows his part of the ocean intimately, has a great intuitive sense of peoples abilities and weak spots, and is able to explain and support a diverse group with kindness and aplomb. My adult daughter and I were able to enjoy some serious snorkeling and learn a great deal about the local area on this wonderful morning outing.

This was a great adventure. It was the perfect combination of kayaking and snorkeling. Our guide John Shappell was amazing. He found an octopus for all of us to touch and hold! He also dealt with the mixed range of swimming and kayaking skills of the group very nicely and in a way that didn't hold us back from experiencing the coast of Maui. I would highly recommend this to everybody. It was perfect because you get to popular snorkel destinations before all of the large snorkel tours come and you have the locations all to yourself! Thanks John for the great trip! P.S. He also takes great photos!

We had 7 in our group aged from 16 to 5 and everyone had a blast! We got to see the turtles and all sorts of fish. Our guide even took the time to talk about the Hawaiian culture and some history behind it during our trip to the reef. All together a great time! I would highly recommend booking this tour. They will even let you know other tours and whats worth the time and money.
