A thousand times more engrossing and enjoyable than any video experience! And since it's practically a private tour, still available despite coronavirus restrictions. No more than four unrelated (six related/family members) in a comfortable easy-to-board boat with bucket seats and a friendly biologist-boat driver/guide. We glided out onto the beautiful Rookery Bay with only the water, the sky and the mangroves visible on all sides. Dozens of raptor, wading, swimming and flying birds of various species were visible and their habits and stories shared by Nick, our guide. The highlight was anchoring in sight of the Rookery Island as dusk approached. Single and flocks of ibis and various herons and egrets fly across the darkening sky to join the enormous pelicans already ensconced on the island. Great egrets displayed their stunning white nesting plumage, for which they were hunted almost to extinction one hundred years ago. Nothing was to be heard except the various voices of the birds jockeying for the best roosting places and settling down for the night. The sun set behind the mangroves, dropping into the Gulf beyond the Bay. As darkness fell, we sailed quietly back to dock. Thanks, Rising Tide Explorers, for this beautiful experience!

We had a great time on our tour with Nick. Nick was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic! He pointed out a number of birds, showed us snails and oysters and we even got to see some dolphins along the way. We would definitely recommend this tour and would do it again. Thank you for a great time!!

Took sunset tour mainly to see over 800 birds come to roost for the evening on a small island in the mangroves. We were not disappointed!! We also got to see a month old osprey fledgling just learning to fly. Our guide, Jeanine provided us with an amazing knowledge of birds and the mangroves, as well as a beautiful sunset right on the water in the middle of the mangroves. Thank you Rising Tide. Our family had done the kayak tour 2 years ago and it was also excellent.
