We did a walking tour of the meatpacking (Chelsea), high-line, and Greenwich Village neighborhoods in Manhattan. Dan helped us get accustomed to the subway routes and provided much current and older history of these areas. He also provided info for areas we wanted to travel to after our tour. Great tour!

The tour I went on was of the lower east Side and Chinatown. The tour was offered (for free) at the Pod 51 hotel we were staying at. My friend and I were visiting NYC for the first time and we thought we'd go on the tour since it was free and we'd done all of the major site seeing already. I was skeptical, but it turned out to be one of the best parts of my 5 day stay. We were greeted at the hotel by Andrew, our very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We started out by taking the subway to the lower east side and then walked our way to Chinatown. All along the tour, Andrew gave us a really detailed history of the buildings and sites that we saw. We also got a bit of the recent happenings like the interesting back-stories of the graffiti in the lower east side. We even got treated to some awesome fried dumplings in Chinatown. Andrew was an amazing tour guide and made sure to get to know everyone in our tour group. He even pointed out specific things during our tour that was related to everyone's personal tastes and interests. Okay. tired of typing. Bottom line. Excellent tour!!
