We only had one full day in New York & decided a private tour would be the best way to see as much of the city as possible. It was a great move, Dan was prompt, professional & listened to our wishes. We walked miles & went on the subway but it didn't feel difficult, Dan was informative & passed on info. you would never get on abus tour, house prices, gossip & ofcourse we could stop whenever we wanted. We saw areas my cousin who lives in NY has never visited, the kids loved the huge Economy Candy , I enjoyed the shops & markets & we all loved Central Park.Dan over ran on time as we watched a street performer but still ensured we knew where we were going next. If we go back to NY we wouldnt hesitate to have Streetwise again to visit other areas.

This was our first time in the States and our first visit to NYC. More used to European cities we knew we would potentially find it somewhat overwhelming which is why we decided to try a walking tour. Our main hope was to gain the insight needed to orientate ourselves and move confidently round the city, as well as learning something of it's historical development. The tour that Dan led us on did all that and more. At our request he recommended a diner for breakfast and met us there. We then went via the subway to our first location as we asked Dan to explain the set up to us. This was particularly helpful as we then happily used the subway for the rest of our time. We packed a lot into c 3 hours and it is to Dan's credit that we ignored the pouring rain and instead immersed ourself in the history and fascinating variety of districts that make up NYC. We had our two teenage daughters with us and Dan easily tuned into their interests and engaged with them. As the tour was only the four of us with Dan it was just like being shown round the city by a friend, very informal, easy and fun. We have never been on a tour of this type before but we can thoroughly recommend it as a great start especially for first time visitors.

Our guide, Dan, was a local young man who led us through the neighborhoods(Chelsea, High Line, Greenwich Village, Meatpacking District, LIttle Italy, China Town, Soho, Financial District) of Manhattan telling us many facts and stories about the history, changes, and people who lived there. We took a 6-hour tour the first day and a 3-hour tour the second, putting a few miles on the walking shoes. We took the subway to Brooklyn Heights where we enjoyed great views of the Manhattan skyline and the beautiful quiet streets of the city. He, also, advised us about tourist attractions that could be easily done on our own. We hope to see Dan again on the next visit to the area. He gets two thumbs up from us!
