I took the Thursday Greenwich Village & Meatpacking district tour through the Pod 51 hotel. Andrew was our tour guide. It was a great tour. Andrew was super friendly and helpful. He started by giving us pointers on how to navigate the subway, and then showing us art installations inside the subway station, along with history. Then we started the tour at the Chelsea Market, which included time for us to explore on our own. After that, we walked along the High Line. Again, Andrew had tons of information about the history and politics of the park. From there, we moved down onto the street and saw some local parks and navigated streets that were designed prior to the grid system. We moved into Greenwich Village and got to saw several renovations that were in taking place. Through all of this, Andrew was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We saw the brownstone used in Sex in the City, and then walked to the Stonewall memorial. We finally ended up in Washington Square Park. Overall, it was a fantastic tour. We learned so much. Andrew was so helpful. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about New York.

I'm torn about how to rate this tour. I did a private tour for my family of 4— aware that my younger son might lose interest. Dan was SUPER nice! Great communication before the tour, asked for info about the kids, asked for any input I had or sites I particularly wanted to see. And it was a bargain considering what private tours can cost! The actual walking tour was very much like walking around with a friend who lives in NYC. He gives a nice lay of the land, if you've never navigated the subways system he can give a tutorial. He gave a very clear picture of the real estate market in the City and knows a lot about the recent incarnations of the different neighborhoods. But it wasn't like walking around with an historian, or an architect, or some other expert. So if this is your first trip to NYC, Streetwise is a great introduction! Next time, I think I'll go with something more in depth.

Hi Mandy, Thanks for writing a review and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the tour. I apologize the tour wasn't what you had in mind. Perhaps I misunderstood what you were looking for in the emails we exchanged. We focus on tailoring tours to our customers and adjusting the depth we go into based on their interest. We've given tours to university classes, journalists, and even architects from an architecture firm and have received very positive feedback for our thoroughness. For your family, I suggested neighborhoods based on your interests and tried to find the appropriate level of depth. I regret not being more forward in asking for feedback so I could adjust. I apologize for not meeting and exceeding your expectations. Next time you're in the city maybe we can show you around again and go into much greater detail and depth. Best, Dan

I stayed at pod 39 in July and took the guided walk With Dan to Chinatown and around. I've been to the area before, but Dan really showed us placed we didnt knew about. Taking a trip With a local who knows the history and odd Places like a old fashoined candy shop was great. That I even had a coffee during the tour was even better. I'm not much of a person for big Groups and "follow that yellow umbrella tours" so having a relaxed guided tour With Dan was super. I higly recommend it to anyone who would like to know more about local New York
