Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

Wow, truly a magical experience - without a doubt the Manta Ray Snorkel Trip is nothing short of awesome. There certainly are plenty of different companies that you can choose from for this adventure but I was completely impressed by Hawaii Oceanic. Captain Jason and first mate Phae are fantastic. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and always put their guest's needs first. They limit each night's tour to only six people with adds to the intimate and personable touch. At the end of the evening you feel as if you were out with some of your best friends. A lot of other companies take far more people each night and I would highly recommend you instead go for the intimate experience you receive with Hawaii Oceanic.

We had an incredible experience with this company! Taking only 6 people at a time ensured that it was an intimate experience among our party. Rolling into the dock, you meet your captain and his assistant, who were both very personable and educational. You are provided a wet suit, snorkel gear, flippers, and even your own personal photo/videographer at the base price you pay. The equipment and vessel were all clean and well kept. You drive 5-10 minutes into the bay where the pods of manta rays retreat to at night (hence, you're guaranteed to see them!). You get to be up close and personal with the mantas for 45 minutes! It was magical.

We went on the manta ray sunset/night tour. It was magical. It is a once in a life time experience. Jason said there are three places in the world to swim with manta rays...two on Hawaii and one in Australia. Jason was very informative and Faye went with us on our dive. Both friendly, knowledgable, and just fun!
