Overview

We carry a maximum of 6 passengers so we can offer a more intimate manta ray snorkel experience than the larger "cattle boats" in Kona.

In addition to delivering a more private experience, our small group size allows for a better manta ray show. Your swim guide will tow your party to the most active areas of the snorkel site, as you hold onto a light board and enjoy the show. Larger groups on bigger boats are often required to stay next to the boat, and can't chase the manta ray action as we do. By locating the most active areas of the snorkel site, you'll have a higher chance of seeing more manta rays.

If you book all 6 seats on any trip, you will have your own private charter.

The marina, guide, and boat were easy to find. I ran late because I had gotten myself double booked (I had to deal with multiple cancellations and changes to the reservations with multiple companies). Coral Reef Adventures kept my reservation and were patient while I sorted things out last minute. I got there in time before the boat departed and the guide kept in touch aiding me through the process. The trip itself was fantastic. It was a little choppy on the way out; it's a quick boat ride. They provide snorkels and masks but I brought my own. Underwater photography and videos are allowed. Right when we got in the water, there were half a dozen giant manta rays below. The lights attracted the plankton and other sea animals. But the highlights were the manta rays. There were so many and they didn't mind swimming near us while feeding on plankton. I only wish we could have remained out there a while longer. The captain and guide were great. I think their names are Justin and Jeff (both names began with a "J"). They answered many questions and pointed out features along the big island coast. I recommend booking this tour with the company and look forward to an opportunity to book other trips with Coral Reef Adventures.

This is a must do! Absolutely fantastic to see the manta rays up close. Make sure to bring a GoPro or Waterpoor Camera for some incredible shots. Staff were nice and friendly. We travelled in a group of 6 which was nice and intimate. Staff provide snorkel gear, wet suit and drinks. Definitely recommend!

Great experience - took the 8pm tour and it was extraordinary. The small boat is a definite plus and makes the experience even better. Jake abs Jeff were awesome!
