Overview

We carry a maximum of 6 passengers so we can offer a more intimate manta ray snorkel experience than the larger "cattle boats" in Kona.

In addition to delivering a more private experience, our small group size allows for a better manta ray show. Your swim guide will tow your party to the most active areas of the snorkel site, as you hold onto a light board and enjoy the show. Larger groups on bigger boats are often required to stay next to the boat, and can't chase the manta ray action as we do. By locating the most active areas of the snorkel site, you'll have a higher chance of seeing more manta rays.

If you book all 6 seats on any trip, you will have your own private charter.

We booked this tour through Tripadvisor a week ago and received a confirmation. This morning we left early because Kona is an hour and a half from where we are staying and we decided to make a day out of it before our 5:30 meet up time. Since I live outside of the United States, I do not have data for my cell phone. I did not check my phone until almost 4 pm, and then I found an email that was sent at 11:00 AM informing us that our tour had been canceled. This was not an email from the company, but an automated email. There was not explanation or any information, just a cancellation a mere 6 hours before our tour. We had planned our entire day and week around this activity and spent over $400. Since it is the holiday season, most of the Manta night tours are sold out, and as we are leaving in 3 days, this left us with almost no options. Coral Reef Snorkel Adventures never attempted to call me, or send a personal email to explain this cancellation or try to help us rebook. I am super disappointed and would recommend others to stay away from this company because of this poor, inconsiderate service. We were super excited as this was supposed to be a highlight of our holiday.

This review contains multiple lies. First, we canceled this tour due to dangerous ocean conditions (there were large waves from a winter swell). We provided this information, while the customer accuses us of providing no information about the cancelation. Second, we called at 11am and then sent an email when the customer was unreachable on their international phone #. This email was absolutely sent by a real live human on our team, while the customer is accusing us of sending an automated email. To avoid issues like this, we have a couple of recommendations. First, we always recommend booking a manta ray tour early in your vacation, in case it is rescheduled for dangerous ocean conditions. Second, please make sure you are reachable by phone and / or email on the day of your tour, in case we need to contact you. In this case, the customer was unreachable, and is falsely accusing us of not emailing them or calling them. This review should be deleted for containing multiple lies that are damaging.

We did the Manta Ray night snorkel experience with Lawrence and Eric as our guides, and those two were awesome! We booked the 5:30pm trip, and my understanding is that this is the best time of day to see the most action, right at dusk. The small group experience was great, it was only my wife and me and four other guests, which made for a very personal experience. We saw a couple of other tours, presumably from a different company, that had maybe 20 or so guests packed into a boat, and it didn't look nearly as good as what we experienced. I would highly recommend this trip to everyone! Again, Lawrence and Eric were fantastic, and the small group is definitely the way to go! Thanks guys, great job!
