Join him and explore 450+ years of living history. His stories will entertain and fascinate you as he shares a mix of the many "firsts", tales, & history that makes Dare County, "The Land of Beginnings". His stories of The Lost Colony, Pirates, The Underground Railroad, The Wright Brothers, and our modern era will delight everyone.He even shares personal stories of the real Mayberry, USA that inspired the classic TV series "The Andy Griffith Show". He shares his relationship with the celebrities and many space heroes who have made Manteo's history unique. This tour has been featured on PBS show "NC Weekend". An incredible tour, should be on the list for anybody visiting OBX. If you are even moderately interested in history, you will so much about this area and the US.

The Manteo Historic Walking Tour is an essential experience when you visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Retired Police Chief D'Ambra brings history to life with his passionate and animated style. Even if you didn't like history class in school, you will enjoy these stories and lore. Many highlights of history are shared and the famous people who have been there and lived in Manteo. Hear about the firsts, American freedom, and the Mother Vine and how those grapes affected the Chief's silly chickens. His humor and knowledge will capture your attention.
