My wife and I came to Manteo for a belated wedding anniversary. This was our first time in Manteo and we wanted to learn about the vast, rich history of the area. Well, after reading excellent reviews we decided to take the Manteo Historic Walking Tour our first night. We had a smaller group (total of 6) which made for an exciting fun filled evening of learning. I will emphasize fun as everyone in the group had a blast. Chief was an amazing tour guide that is extremely knowledgeable of the areas history and firsts! We were ever so grateful for the many laughs and the wonderful group that we accompanied. We recommend taking this tour on your first evening, so you have a better understanding of the area and itā€™s history! Thank you Chief!

It never ceases to amaze me that this special place and itā€™s very unique history bring together people from vastly different backgrounds and discover that essence that makes us all part of one nation. Your group seemed to click together like a fine tapestry! Everyone in your group shared with me personally how you each took home something special and unforgettable. It was an honor for me as your guide to share with you the living history, culture, and many things that makes Manteo a great place. Please come again soon and my thanks again for also making it an unforgettable experience for me as well!

My husband and I came to Manteo for our anniversary to visit the Lost Colony of Roanoke and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Since we were in the city we decided to check out the historical walking tour. I am so glad we did. Manteo is a hidden gem filled with history. I am in awe of all the amazing things that started in Manteo. Chief Dā€™Ambra is an amazing guide and made the tour interesting and exciting. I LOVED every minute of the tour. It is definitely a must on your things to do list when you travel to this area.

Thank you so much! It is so much fun to have folks visit who discover what a gem this area truly is. The vast estuary holds many tales and secrets that it will never give up. One thing is for sure though, I will always try to share our history with our guests. We are so glad that you had a great time here and hope that you will come back and visit us in the future now that you too are part of our living history.

I have been on many historical tours during my travels and this tour definitely rates as one of the best. Our tour guideā€The retired chief of police Francis Dā€™Ambraā€ held our attention the whole time and was a wealth of information. I learned so much about the many ā€œfirsts" that Mateo is known for in the US history. I would highly recommend taking this tour, you will not be disappointed!
