It makes sense that the retired chief of a small town would have personal knowledge of its old and new history. Since my husband and I love history, this tour did not disappoint! ā€œChiefā€ was engaging with the entire group and so knowledgeable and passionate about Manteoā€™s history that we continue mentioning amazing facts that come to mind after leaving the Outer Banks. As a retired teacher, Iā€™m not easily impressed with 2 hr presentations (especially when presenters drone on about memorized facts or with created ghost stories). THIS was the perfect choice to conclude a lovely anniversary trip and it made me wish for a return visit soon. Iā€™ll be telling my family and friends,ā€Yā€™all need to hear from the police chief that actually spent time with ā€˜Sheriff Andy Taylorā€™ and knows inside secrets.ā€ I only regret that I failed to ask his theory of the whereabouts of the lost colony!

You are truly too kind! It was an honor to have you spend your very special anniversary with me on the tour. Thank you so much. Had it not been for teachers like you, I would have never had a love for history. They seemed to make history come alive for me. If you give me a call, I will be happy to share with you my personal speculation of the fate of the ā€œLost Colonyā€ of Roanoke. As I tend to view this mystery like a crime scene and from a criminal investigation point of view. Please do come again. You are welcome anytime! Remember it is you who are forever now part of the living history which is the Outer Banks.
