Overview

You will be safely brought deep into the 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge for a two-hour interpretive tour of the area led by a Florida Master Naturalist. Depending on the season, you can expect to encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, rosette spoonbills, as well as, numerous species of fish and shore birds.

What To Expect

TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS NWR

Consisting of two parts, The Dolphin, Birding and Shelling Tour is a wonderful experience for the whole family and a great introduction to the area. First a dolphin tour to search for dolphins and wading birds on a naturalist-led boating tour. Then a shelling tour to explore an uninhabited barrier island. You will learn about island’s beach dynamics and collect some of the wonderful shells on these remote islands.

What a great experience today! Great crew! We saw dolphins and even got to “play” with them’ we saw Osprey and Manatee too! Captain knew exactly where to take us! Highly recommend!

Great experience. Professional staff, easy parking just outside the boat launch, good view from a simple open deck boat. Took my 2 year old and 5 year old and both enjoyed the breeze as we skimmed across the water, and then slowed down for our captain to point out a few dolphins. They weren't as playful as I hoped but we still got great views of them, as well as manatees and some bird nests. The shelling when we stopped for about 45 minutes or so was probably our favorite. Relaxing and fun to just hang with the family finding some great shells or walking around the collected pools of water in the sand. The water out on these small islands is beautiful. Would do it again.
