Overview

You will be safely brought deep into the 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge for a two-hour interpretive tour of the area led by a Florida Master Naturalist. Depending on the season, you can expect to encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, rosette spoonbills, as well as, numerous species of fish and shore birds.

What To Expect

TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS NWR

Consisting of two parts, The Dolphin, Birding and Shelling Tour is a wonderful experience for the whole family and a great introduction to the area. First a dolphin tour to search for dolphins and wading birds on a naturalist-led boating tour. Then a shelling tour to explore an uninhabited barrier island. You will learn about island’s beach dynamics and collect some of the wonderful shells on these remote islands.

I and my children love Captain Glenn. He was so so professional and passionate. He really genuinely wanted you to have a great experience so he will go out of his way to make sure we get what we want. I am an adult but I love watching dolphins and even though it was close to his finish time, he showed us more dolphins. He had a very good knowledge. Best of all he has a very good personality and genuine love for what he does and life. We loved riding on his boat and we would be back to Marco island in a heart beat!!! Thanks Captain glenn. another plus was --- My phone was broken just about 30 min before I got to the tour. He made sure I was able to use his hot spot so I could get on uber and he made sure I got on uber with my children. He is such a gentleman. We love him. We cannot wait to be back and do more of the same tour! so exciting. My children could not believe it was over after about 2 hours. They wish it lasted all day long1!!! Thank you again for your awesome experience!!!

This was the best dolphin excursion that we have taken! The crew was great and even though there is no guarantee of seeing dolphins we saw several that then swam along the boat. The island with the shells, had many sand dollars and larger shells, could have spent more time there.
