One of the best places to see the sunset and stargazing and it's also the highest mountain on earth. Comfortable 4X4 passenger van as transportation.Jackets and gloves provided to keep you warm. Get close to the stars with our professional Celestron telescope and get a nice photo with our DSLR camera.

Being on the top of the crater with the observatories felt other worldly. We could even see Haleakala (on Maui). In addition to learning about the volcano and astronomy, Reilly told us all about the history of and daily life in Hilo. The cold temperature was fine (we’re from New England).

Breathtaking views of the sunset. It was amazing being above the clouds. Did I mention how cold it is up there? The stargazing was beautiful and very informative. (I loved the hot chocolate.)

Probably the amount of stars and the clarity. Our guide, Riley, was great. He was born and raised here in Hilo so had many stories to tell. Our van had issues so we had an extra 2 hours on the top of the mountain to enjoy the stars. Cold and beautiful.
