Mauna Kea Summit delivered a thrilling experience! Their staff did a superb job. Even though the weather was against us with heavy fog and rain, we saw a magnificent sunset at the summit. The road to the observatory was closed due to snow and ice, but our fearless crew set up a telescope and refreshment table near the visitor’s center. We saw shooting stars, Jupiter and the Milky Way. Our drivers were very knowledgeable and so attentive to our needs. We were so impressed! Great experience.

Went for sunset. Was pretty amazing, was cloudy on the way up so was a little concerned. Were well above them, great views! Make sure to also see the summit.

This was such a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was a super nice and had some great information about the site (he was also hilarious and honestly worth the trip alone), and the sights where absolutely incredible. While the stars weren't great that night, the view of a sunset above the clouds while it was snowing off and on was unreal, and the view of the full moon was beautiful. Also, the snacks where on point. The photography was something we didn't know the trip included, but was really fun to do as well. However, be aware the altitude is high, and you will need to walk a bit slower and acclimate. But, all in all, it's one of the coolest things you can do on the big island.
