My sister and I really enjoyed this museum. The museum has a huge variety of items that were found from the shipwreck. The museum also gives great insight into Mel Fisher’s long-time obsession with finding this treasure. What a tragedy that his son and daughter-in-law died in the pursuit of this sunken treasure.

I loved it, but it is not for everyone. I love history and the stories of looking for this 1622 shipwreck of a Spanish fleet headed back to Spain with a lot of looted silver and gold etc from the new world. There was pressure to get the valuables back to Spain asap so they set sail in the middle of hurricane season in early September, 1622 and paid the price. Very well done explanation and displayed artifacts. They also have a gift shop if you want to buy some gold or silver items or books with pirate stories of stuff for your children. Mel Fisher spent about 16 years looking for this lost treasure based on documented stories from around the time of the wreck.

Shipwrecks! Dreams achieved through adversity! Gold, silver, emeralds. Years of court battles to determine that finders are keepers. Don’t miss the second floor for more dramatic information.
