Overview

Get the complete Memphis experience on this all-inclusive city tour. It’s a part history tour, part attraction hopping, part food tour that will introduce you to everything that makes Memphis special. You’ll visit World Famous Beale Street (the Home of the Blues); the Lorraine Motel, to see the balcony where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated; the Rock 'n' Soul Museum or Edge Motor Museum (if option selected); Lansky Brothers Clothing Store, clothier to Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and B.B. King (and still one of the most stylish places to shop!); and get a barbecue tasting at one of the best barbecue joints in the city!

Along the way, we'll show you our favorite Memphis sights, including the Mississippi River, Victorian Village, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, old Cotton Row, and Court Square, the lovely and historic heart of 19th century Memphis.

Within a few blocks there are four different parking garages, and several open-air parking lots. The closest garage to our location (just two blocks away) is at 149 Peabody Place between Second Street and BB King Blvd., next to the Hampton Inn. You can try your luck with on-street metered parking, too, on Second Street just south of Beale; on Beale between Front and Second; or along Peabody Place from Front to Fourth Street.

We had originally booked the Mojo tour and weren't able to make it at the last minute. Backbeat Tours were kind enough to re-book us onto the Discovery Tour the following day with no change in cost to us - thank you for doing that. We also booked a walking tour of Beale street through them - another great experience. The Discovery Tour was well worth doing, for sure. Larry, the driver and tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and quite humorous at times. The tour covers a lot of the highlights and history of Memphis. We got off the bus at several locations, and walked around as Larry explained the significance of the stop. The tour had advertised samples of BBQ were included, but when we did stop at a Central BBQ location, it was more like a light lunch, and it was really quite tasty. All in all, a great tour - thanks Larry and Backbeat Tours.
