We had so much fun doing this tour!! At first the website looked exciting but we were not prepared for how much fun it was going to be. You row to the glacier and then put crampons on and hike to different parts of the glacier. What the website did not capture was how much synergy and fun our tour guides were! We had Mo and Ryan, and they were soooo hilarious! They made the rowing there and back so much shorter, they cracked jokes, they were knowledgeable, and most of all, they were passionate! Definitely ask for both of them as they work so well together! We were able to drink glacier water (note: bring empty water bottles so you can fill up) and see amazing blues throughout. It's crazy to think that the glacier was much bigger in the past. On our way rowing in we saw an epic battle between Arctic Ferns and a bald eagle trying to steal eggs. It was a scene straight out of planet earth! The gear they provide you with is warm and effective, we did not get wet at all. I wish we had more time on the glacier, and it's unfortunate we spend quite a bit of time rowing there, but the cost was definitely worth it and if we are in Juneau we will do it again (hopefully there will be ice caves to visit next time!). Ryan, you're the best singer in Juneau ;)

This was our favorite tour and for good reason. There is nothing like being on the Mendenhall glacier. It is gorgeous and awe-inspiring. The tour was made even better by Alli and Ryan, our well informed and experienced tour guides. We went at the beginning of July, and the weather was beautiful. The canoe ride on the lake was refreshing after being on a cruise ship for several days. It does require constant pacing, so some people who were not used to long periods of strenuous exercise couldn't hack it, but luckily the rest of us picked up the slack. The crampons used were surprisingly sturdy, and we felt comfortable traversing the glacier even at steep inclines. Must do for those who love the outdoors, but definitely recommended for those in shape.
