What To Expect

Mendenhall Glacier

Guests will spend 60 minutes hiking around the rocky moraine and exploring near the Mendenhall Glacier.

Tongass National Forest

The entire Mendenhall Glacier ICE Adventure Tour operates in the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States.

This tour was fantastic! We all road out in a canoe together about 2 miles on the beautiful lake and then explored the glacier. Kevin and Paul were awesome and very knowledgeable as they showed us around the glacier and the lake. We got to walk on the glacier and actually explore. We caught a gorgeous day with a lot of sun so we only had 2 light layers. Overall fantastic experience with great guides!

Our favorite part was the glacier and the guides! Lena, Kelby and Mike were great guides. They were so enthusiastic. Lena was especially knowledgeable about the glacier and the rocks all around. Did not know what a Moulin was until this trip and it was spectacular. They kept us extra safe as there are spot where you could walk and fall straight into a crevasse. When I say be prepared, make sure you take gloves to put under the gloves they provide. Make sure the provided gloves do not have holes. MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS STAY DRY. It is difficult to recover from wet frozen hands. I would also suggest two pairs of socks. They have extra if you need them. They also have handwarmers. The guides did all they could for me and I truly appreciate them. OK, maybe I am a wuss but just want all the adventure loving wusses to be prepared . HA HA

Fun and windy day on the lake! We had a blast with Kelby and Matt and would highly recommend it to active families! Be prepared to fully participate…lots of paddling. Everything you could need is provided.
