Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

My significant other and I joined Matt and Jason on the Canoe and Glacier experience given by Liquid Alaska Tour. This company is the outfitter and not a brokerage/travel agent. It is a small business that is deeply invested in providing a unforgettable experience to its customers. I have traveled extensively and have to say this was one of my favorite experiences because of the setting and the guides. Matt was an endless source of information and guided us in a way that the information was useful, humorous, and not too overwhelming. Jason is one of the owners. He made sure the guests were attended to and made everyone feel safe. We had 14 people in our group. Hiking/rain boots, gloves, helmets, rain shells (jackets and pants) were provided. We paddled near small icebergs, Nugget Falls, and up to the Mendenhall Glacier. We did not walk on the glacier and did not have any ice caves. The glacier is unstable and it was not an option to walk on it due to the unstable nature of the glacier itself. Highest recommendations for this outfit and tour.

Last month, we went on Liquid Alaskaā€™s canoe trip in Juneau. After telling all my friends it was my favorite excursion of our Alaska cruise, I realized I ought to post a very positive review so others could know it, too. Bryce, our guide, was terrific! Informative, and funny, and after he guided us past a beautiful waterfall, most important, he brought us closer to the incredible Mendenhall Glacier, with its wonderful blues. It was a lot of paddling, and well worth it! And ā€“ before the trip, Liquid Alaska was really helpful with my many questions. Do this excursion!

Wonderful way to start our Alaskan adventure! Great adventure canoeing across a beautiful lake amidst the most picturesque scenery to arrive at the Mendenhall Glacier. The glacier itself was breathtaking and Kevin and Bryce provided so much information and many interesting facts about the Mendenhall Glacier as well as glaciers in general. They were so much fun and even challenged us to beat the record for crossing the lakeā€¦which we didšŸ˜‰ This is a great adventure, I highly recommend it!
