Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

Our first stop on Alaska cruise was Juneau and we were so excited for our Mendenhall Glacier excursion. We were referred to Liquid Alaska canoe trip by friends who had gone a few weeks before and had a great experience, albeit in the rain. We got lucky! First, our guide, Ryan was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and informative, patient and kind and sometimes, even funny. Second, the weather was perfect!!! What a great adventure. We were so thrilled to have found this company!

Ryan is fantastic, we love having him on our team! Our guides go through paddling and safety instructions with each group to everyone knows how to properly canoe. Canoeing is such a fun way to see the Mendenhall Glacier.

I rarely write reviews (although I do read a lot of them) and tend to be a bit frugal, but I'm writing this to assure you that this experience is definitely worth it! It was the highlight of a fantastic trip to Alaska. Ben and Joey were excellent guides - very informative and a great deal of fun along the way. We were able to spend about 45 mins up on glacier and that also included a visit to an ice cave. The trip does require some exercise, but rowing across the lake is certainly part of the adventure :-)

Ben and Joey are an excellent pair that really love showing off the beauty of Alaska. It takes a team effort to paddle out to the glacier, but definitely worth it. Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we really do appreciate it.
