not anticipated to open until July of 2022.

Mesa Verde was the worlds first archaeological National Park and one of the first UNESCO designations in the U.S. The sites and ruins are greatly enhanced by a tour guides passion and knowledge of the area including flora and fauna, geology, native peoples and its historical archaeological record. Experiencing MESA VERDE was amazing and well worth the TIME and DOLLARS spent. ā€œHandsomeā€ Greg was our small group tour guide (we had 6 guests, but hear there could be 12), and this guy knows ALL the background plus really makes the effort to give you lots of historical significance, chat, and answer questions. We visited a few smaller sights w/in the park on our way up to CLIFF PALACE. The PARK ITSELF has changed some things, and sadly we did not have a much time as we would have preferred @ CLIFF PALACE (only 30 min), with 2 rangers that met the group and gave limited info about it. THE PARK itself was responsible for that, and could have done a better job. THE PARK wouldnā€™t let you enter some sights (Balcony House, I think) w/out a RANGER BOOKED tour, and we would have loved to see the Petroglyph on that hike. So Iā€™d say this tour is a GOOD TASTE of Mesa Verde, with an amazing guide, Greg.

Indeed, during 4 hour visit it would be impossible to accommodate a 2 hour hike to petroglyph point, and an hour at each dwelling plus the hour of driving in the park which is why we offer the full day tour of Mesa Verde N.P. Thank you for the review.

Neil was a wonderful guide. I learned a lot. He pointed out things that I would have missed. He also took photos for us. The reason why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars is I thought they would have tickets to take us down into the dwellings. If I would have known they didnā€™t I would have attempted to buy tickets prior to booking the tour as I had plenty of time to do so.

Tickets are available for purchase at recreation.gov It is an online automated system and we almost always are able to get them for our tours but it is not guaranteed.
