I did this tour with a guest in town for the weekend to show him around the city while also eating some amazing food, and I am so glad we did! John is exceptionally knowledgable about the Midtown area and chose the perfect restaurants to showcase the city. Everything we ate and drank was phenomenal, and I plan on going back to the places we were at for more than just a sample! John and his wife both went out of their way to make this tour a great experience for all, and this is definitely something everyone should do at least once, local or not!

R. - Both you and your guest were great sports, even when the "needling" started! It was a day full of food and fun! Now that you've had the in-depth guided tour of Midtown, Jeri and I will keep an eye out for you. No reason to be a stranger! You two were introduced to a bunch of dining opportunities so if it all seems to blend together, just give me a buzz! I'm more than happy to help with suggestions! (So....there's a huge event in Oakland Cemetery this Saturday (6/13) called "Tunes in the Tombs!" Music! Food! Drinks! Google it....then don't miss it!)

This could not have been a better experience. I am new to Atlanta and didn't know where to go or what to do, so this was the perfect Sunday afternoon to enjoy with my boyfriend who is also unfamiliar with the area. Now, I know exactly where to eat, hang out, and stroll around for the rest of my time in Atlanta. John was about as hospitable as a guy could be- we would even do this tour again!

J. - Thanks! Let's do this again! We'll all go on my "Discover Buckhead" Tour and then you will really have the inside scoop on what Peachtree Street has to offer. So many dining options! So little time! Your story is a great example of how a Gift Certificate is a truly thoughtful treat to someone who is new to the city. Not only did you get a look at a bunch of fun restaurants, you got a lot of "local" insight as to all that Atlanta has to offer. Heck, grab a bunch of friends and take them to Midtown! You could easily show them around and be their "local". Just make up some stories as you stroll through my neighborhood! That's pretty much all I do! (Ha!) My best to you! (Try a Food Tour in Detroit! Now there's a great idea!)

I found John up here on TripAdvisor because I wanted to do some things while in Atlanta for the conference. I called him up and said I might be there Thursday and then he then began to advise me on some other tours that I should think about if I couldn't make his. That let me knew that he loved his city and he wasn't trying to make a profit. I did the segway tour (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and then Sunday in what seemed to be a tropical storm in ATL I did this food tour. Despite the crazy weather it turned out to be great. Jeri, John's wife brought down towels and a functional umbrella because mine SUCKED and drove us to the next stop because the rain was so bad at the time. This was so great of them to do! WE made the most of everything and I could tell that John loved his city. Though I wasn't a drinker (ha) I loved the food. The burger was by far my favorite. Wanted shrimp and grits the entire time and I'm glad I waited until this tour to get them because they were amazing. Glad I did this and I wish you nothing but success John because this was great! Also you'll enjoy the surprise at the end as well!!! ~James from Pittsburgh by way of NC

J. - Thanks for taking the time to send a review to your fellow TA readers! And to include a line about how my sweet wife saved the day! The World's Best Burger was so close....but, in the monsoon, so far away! Jeri knew that if I could just get that outrageous "taste" in front of you guys, you'd forget about the weather. I'm thinking that she was right! If there is one constant about my guests is that they are all about the "adventure" of a Food Tour. Then there are folks like you who are anxious to try everything Atlanta has to offer! Gotta love the Segway Tour! Don't hesitate to call me before your next trip to Georgia! I'll have even more suggestions that are all about the "adventure"! And I may just join you!
