A friend of ours booked this trip and I had no idea as to what to expect. The tour started with a short visit to an historic Methodist church with some of the most gorgeous stained glass I have ever seen. John, the tour guide owner, used this stop as a general introduction to the area, an overview of some of the local history, and gave us an idea of what we would do during the tour. First stop was Cypress Point and Plate where we had a burger on a bun made from a grilled Krispy Kream donut (seriously?) with topped with cheese and slow cooked Vidalia onions. It was off the hook!! Oh, did I mention that many of the stops included a drink of some sort. A dry hard cider in this case. The on to the second spot. Fried green tomatoes followed by the most awesome shrimp and grits I have ever had. Cocktail? A Mississippi Mule concocted from Honeysuckle infused vodka, ginger beer, and fresh lime juice. After a short walk (thank goodness) Princi Italia with Bruschetta followed by a Neopolitan style pizza topped with figs and gorgonzola cheese. Served with a champagne/campari cocktail. Just when you feel like you can't eat another bite, not one but two additional stops. Choice of 30-40 different cakes and cheesecakes at the first, and Asian bakery goods at the second. Throughout the door John commented on the local historic spots, pointed out numerous restaurants, and just generally did a great job of detailing the Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta. John is a highly personable guy with a great sense of humor and it is obvious that he is in love with the food scene and culture of the area. Don't miss out on this opportunity!

Hey Austex! Thanks for the fabulous review! I love my guests who show up having no idea what a "Food Tour" is all about! To you TA readers... Yep! The buns on the burger are Krispy Kreme donuts! Sounds like a sugary mess, doesn't it?? But then what did Austex have to say about that foodie adventure... "It was off the hook!" And...Folks, that's just the first restaurant stop!! A beautiful historic church, a fabulous burger, a bit of history told through stories, then more food...and a drink here and there...and after the dessert stop (which locals refer to as The Experience!)... I take you shopping! How about an Asian bakery for some treats in a pretty pink bag...for later!! I'm with Austex... "Don't miss out on this opportunity!". Austex...You're the best! Thanks again for taking a moment to share your thoughts! John

I received a gift certificate to take the food tour with John for my birthday, and what a great gift it was! My husband and I recently moved to Atlanta and loved getting to learn more about what Midtown has to offer. We have lived in the Midtown neighborhood for almost a year and had only been to one of the places John took us. The food John chose was amazing and definitely not things we would normally try. We were wowed by how delicious everything was! The shrimp and grits were our favorite. His stories were both informational and funny. Honestly, the tour feels like you and a group of friends hanging out. If you’re visiting Atlanta, this tour is a must! And if you’re a local, you should definitely still take the tour. You’ll learn a lot, try new and delicious things and have a ton of fun! Well worth it!

Hi Shayne! I think you've hit on the heart of my Midtown Food Tour...the food is certainly amazing and there are some terrific tastes that most folks may not order from the menu. But what I love to hear is, "We were wowed by how delicious everything was!" Oops! Stop! I changed my mind! Shayne, your best comment and this is the way all of my tours should unfold, "the tour feels like you and a group of friends hanging out." Yep! Just a stroll through my neighborhood, eating, and drinking...and laughing! Thank you, Shayne, for sharing your experience with the TA readers! My best! John

My husband and I had some free time while working in Atlanta and were looking into different options to get to know the city. We are so happy we have decided to go for a food tour, and THIS food tour in particular. John’s professionalism and familiarity with city demographics and local history really impressed us. It was a real pleasure to be introduced to midtown Atlanta, its restaurants and culture by a knowledgeable insider, proud of his community. A perfect combination of sight-seeing, general culture, delicious food and great company in a beautiful neighborhood! We just loved it, and would recommend it to anyone wishing to meet authentic Atlanta, from the inside perspective.

"Authentic Atlanta...from the inside perspective". But first, "delicious food and great company". Right on, MM! Thank you for a terrific review! What comes out of me on this foodie adventure is, indeed, how proud I am of the community. I am not only surrounded by 30+ restaurants to show off but there is a rich history along Peachtree Street that just adds to the food and fun! Of course, it always helps to take my tour on a day that unfolds with some of the finest Georgia weather, 70 degree temperature with a lovely breeze! Again...Thanks, MM!! My best! John
