This was a lazy float down the Colorado River, with our guide Z doing most of the work. A couple of slight rapids kept it interesting. Easy on the customers! Although we were told the Colorado was quite low at this time in early June, so others may have a different experience at other times of the year. So interesting to see some of the landscape features from the water, and Z had good insights into the geological history of the area and pointed out wildlife. This morning trip was not too hot and splashes (from both the river and from the other boats!) kept us cool.

Showed up early and checked in. After waiting until nearly 9 am for a 8:15 meet up they finally had us load on buses and then sat on the hot school bus for 30 minutes waiting on 1 set of people who were over an hour late. Drove 30 miles in a bus with only half of people bothering to wear masks even though it explicitly said masks would be mandatory on the bus. Finally got to our drop off and then waited another 30 minutes for the 2 full bus loads of people to get in rafts and kayaks. Once we were all in the water we floated down a very calm and boring albeit scenic float with tiny rapids. The guides were personable but overloading with 8 rafts loaded with 12+ people each and 12 kayaks made for a disorganized mess. When we got finished at the take out, they had us all wait another 20 minutes for the bus to show up. Will not be using Mild to Wild again even though we really enjoyed them in Durango.

We did the half day rafting trip which is the perfect amount of time for families with small children. Ellen was our guide and she was amazing. Great conversation and very knowledgeable.
