Martin was a good guide, telling us much about the surroundings and answering lots of questions about guiding. Everyone associated with the company was courteous and energetic. Unfortunately, the 4.5 hr advertised trip is maybe 2 hrs rafting, with the rest being ck-in and riding an old school bus way out and back. The river was also fairly low for our trip, so there was no "wild" at all. Was basically a rowed rafting trip with a few brief areas of .5 to 1.0 rapids. If you're looking for something energetic or thrilling, this isn't the answer, but if you're looking for a quiet, scenic, safe family rafting trip, this is okay if you can live with the short water time vs the logistics.

We advertise the trip you were on "Colorado River - Castle Valley" as a mild trip with a few splashes, so we are a bit confused as to where you thought it would be wild. We do have wild trips - the Upper Animas River, the Lower Box of the Piedra, and Cataract Canyon at high and medium water has some really big rapids. You are correct as well that the on-water time for the trip you chose is about 2 hours, and consists of a very scenic drive to the launch spot of about 4 minutes, unloading the boats from the trailers, a safety orientation (20 minutes), and then when we arrive at our take out location approx. 2 hours later, we need to load the boats on the trailer and have about a 20-minute shuttle back to Moab. For some, it may seem like a lot of transportation, but that is what it takes to access that stretch of river and there is nothing closer to Moab. So sorry for your disappointment. You may want to check out the itineraries on websites prior to booking a trip so you know ahead of time.
