During the 2.5 hour tour through the restricted region of Monument Valley you will explore the sacred unforgettable homeland of the Navajo people. The first stop on your tour adventure will be John Ford's Point, a site that often featured in John Ford's western movies. You will then continue your journey further into the backcountry and you will visit the valley's second largest arch  Sun's Eye arch.  Discover some of the valley's oldest Anasazi ruins, petroglyphs and pictographs. Later you will hike the sand dunes at Ear of the Wind arch and walk inside the Big Hogan, known as Monument Valley's largest amphitheater, where your Navajo guide will perform a musical demonstration for you. On your next stop you will see the isolated group of spires known as Yei Bi Chei next to which stands one of the most well known peaks in the valley, Totem Pole a tall, red sandstone column. Richard was an AWESOME tour guide! He literally grew up among the buttes we were driving through! We did the sunset tour, and the pictures and sites were incredible. He played the flute and sung for us. It was an incredible experience. Highly recommend.

Our party of three had a really great 4-hour tour of Monument Valley! At times what we saw seemed like an artist rendition rather than the works of nature! Many of the Monuments resembled humans, animals or things like a totem pole and some had petroglyphs. We also learned that many of them and their surrounding areas had been in well-known movies involving major movie stars. How water, wind, heat & cold created such majestic Monuments with pillared & smooth edges, holes, domes and varied colors is simply amazing. Our guide, Tony, was very good in providing details, some relevant Navajo cultural aspects, and an excellent demonstration with sand and water on how the Monuments were formed. We were surprised when he and another guide played Navajo music in what was similar to a colorful bandshell of the Big Hogan Monument. This tour of Monument Valley with a great guide made for a very special experience that far exceeded anything we could imagine just driving through it!
