Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
Your guide would take you to see the beautiful iconic buttes, spires and mesas that have made Monument Valley famous on part of the 17 mile loop drive. We would then go to the back country restricted areas of the Tribal Park to stand beneath the natural arches, amp theaters and get right up close to the Anasazi petroglyphs. Our guides are so kind and would explain the traditional meanings of each location, history, and culture while answering any question that you might think of. Navajo Spirit Tours does not shy away from some of the spiritual topics that you might not hear about on a regular day. We do try our best in the short amount of time that we have with each of our guests to teach as much as we can while you are here. We do look forward to meeting you!

Larson, our guide, was terrific. Patrons from other tours edged in to hear his stories and his discussions of Navajo tradition and culture. He played a traditional flute! My sense was that this company focuses on history and cultures. Others showed people interesting rocks. Of course Larson showed us rock formations too, but with spirit.

We were lucky to have Shawn (sean?) as our guide and he was fabulous. He was extremely knowledgeable and you could tell he did lots of research to make the experience a better one. We took both the Monument Valley tour and the Mystery Valley tour with him.

The guide, Will Cowboy, is a native resident of the area. He showed us areas of the valley that are not accessible without a guide. We saw the native housing structure called a hogan. We saw a woman demonstrating the making and dyeing of rugs. We learned that there are male and female hogans and hogans used as sweat lodges buried somewhat beneath the ground. He taught us about the native belief system, history, language and lineage. We learned about the geology of the valley. We also saw where over 200 movies were made. He also demonstrated native traveling and journey songs It was very interesting and we are glad that we took the tour.
