The Extended backcountry tour offers all Highlight stops and additional stops that are not covered in the regular backcountry tour. Spend more time with your Navajo guide and indulge in an experience that uncovers the secrets, myths, and legends of the Navajo Culture. Navigate through 28 miles of Monument Valley's Finest spectacles where movies, commercials, and performances were made. Enjoy the luxury of exploring areas that are off-limits to normal travelers; and listen and watch your guide bring the monuments to life through its history, story telling, and live performances. Enjoy a visit to a local Navajo Hogan and watch a demonstration of the art of Navajo Rug Weaving. Behind the breathtaking Mesas, Buttes, Spires, and Arches there are hidden stories waiting to be told.

We packed two tours back-to-back, Magic Valley and the Extended Back Country Tour and were not disappointed! Our guide Leslie was fantastic, filled with first-hand knowledge of the customs, culture and traditions of the Navajo people. We not only saw a lot but learned a lot. Well worth the extra money to take this private tour(s)

My wife and I had always wanted to visit the Monument Valley. We contacted Monument Valley Tribal Tours and received an immediate and helpful response from Liliane. We booked the all day Extended Backcountry Tour. We splurged for a private tour and are glad we did. Our guide, Reever, picked us up at the View Hotel in a SUV, and we had him all to ourselves. We cannot say enough good things about Reever. He was knowledgeable, personable, a good driver, and not a bad flute player. Reever made the whole day an absolute pleasure. Of course the monuments in Monument Valley helped too. We went all over the Valley and backcountry. There was a stop at a hogan to observe a woman weaving and an opportunity to purchase items (absolutely no pressure to buy anything). The rock formations, the red sand, and the blue sky were unforgettable and are still with us. In short a great day!
