My friend and I visited Monument Valley and had signed up for the guided tour. I certainly recommend the guided tour because you can then go into restricted areas the general public can not see. Our guide was, Comasheena Benally. She was so great! We had a wonderful time with her. She was a great resource and even sang us a song in Navajo.

Visiting monument valley and going on this guided tour with Monument Valley Safari was truly the highlight of our southwest road trip. Our guide was Duffy who was clearly very passionate about Navajo traditions and took the time to really teach us throughout the tour. Our tour was limited to the 4 of us plus our guide. Occasionally we would come across other Monument Valley Safari tours each also holding only 4 guests. Limiting the tours to small groups made the experience more intimate and enjoyable. Our guide played a flute for us and then his brother showed up with another group of 4 and sang a traditional song. It was all so beautiful. It made me really glad we were not with any of the other tour companies as their vehicles were jam-packed with guests and would have provided a much less intimate experience.
