What To Expect

Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve

All hot air balloon tours check in at the Deer Valley Airport Balloon Ride Parking Area, unless the roundtrip hotel transfers option is selected. Guests will float above the awe-inspiring Sonoran Desert viewing local landmarks, wildlife and plant life from above.

Camelback Mountain

Enjoy stunning views of iconic Camelback Mountain in the heart of the Phoenix Valley. You pilot will share the history of this fascinating city and will point out local wildlife and plant life.

Downtown Phoenix

You will be able to see Downtown Phoenix in the distance as you soar over the valley. As you begin to land, you'll see a table complete with linens and china in the heart of the desert, a clue to what you are about to enjoy! You are greeted with a traditional celebration that includes scrumptiously prepared gourmet cuisine from the award-winning Vincent’s on Camelback restaurant. First-time flyers will be treated to the legendary Balloonists Ceremony that balloonists all over the world have been sharing for more than a century.

The balloon ride was amazing and the crew was very professional. We were the first van of riders on-site, but unfortunately we were the last balloon to take flight. We did not really think anything of it at the time, just a bit frustrated. Then, come to find out, we were one of the first balloons to land, leaving us feeling a little bit short-changed on flight time as compared to other balloons. Once we landed, it became very apparent that our crew was short a person (which explained why it took so long to take flight) and our pilot was up there in age and not able to help. A balloon that landed after us was packed up and gone an hour before us because they had an extra person, their pilot assisted, and they had a trailer with a winch. This crew shortage left us in the desert longer than expected as the smaller crew packed up the balloon. Then finally we were all packed and loaded only to have our passenger van get stuck on the way out of the desert. Great time in the air was balanced out by frustrating times on the ground.

Our experience was waiting in the van for 40 minutes from the scheduled time to leave, to then be told the weather was too bad. What was the most disheartening about this was watching other hot air balloons flying in the sky the same time we were supposed to be in the air. We're from out of town and have always wanted to do this, and it seemed to not be planned/organized very well. We did greatly appreciate the response time in receiving a refund and the kindness of the drivers in the morning.
