The Scotch Mist is a fun and fast sailing yacht, built in 1982 for racing by famed builder Bill Lee in Santa Cruz, California. In fact, she is the fastest production line sailboat of her size in the world, having won “first in class” in the prestigious Victoria-to-Maui Yacht race, besting her competition by over 24 hours.

Atomizing sprayers are used to disinfect all seating & boat areas & equipment. Sanitizing stations are set up at the booth & on-board the Scotch Mist. As of 3/27/22 Hawaii & Maui County have eliminated masking & social distancing requirements for outdoor activities such as our sailing adventures.

Great trip. Lots of turtles to see during snorkeling. Spent 2 hours sailing which was fantastic. Crew was friendly and a lot of fun.

I am writing this because of an attitude of complete indifference that the owners displayed when canceling our sailing tour with only an email (at 7:30 the night before) via email. When we read the email the next morning standing at their slip, it didn’t even say canceled. It said to call. So odd they didn’t take the time to call the one customer they had booked. It is our last day in Maui & we checked out & drove 45 minutes to stand at a closed business. He said it was not worth it to bring us out because no one else signed up and then offered another tour some other day. He said he texted us (not true) when all he really needed to do was call. We received no text. He literally could care less. I was so excited to introduce my new wife to sailing. Being we fly out this afternoon and also checked out of our hotel early for this trip, we are now just sitting in town trying to figure out what to do. Where I come from, you don’t do business like that. They could really care less. I would avoid this business if possible. Clearly they don’t care if they waste your time. It’s all about the money.

Jason--my apology for the breakdown in communication. Our POS automatically sends emails and texts tothe cell phones of our guests WHEN we have access to that info from the larger booking companies if they provide that info and guests lodging location to us; but most time they do NOT. This complicates contacting guests in the event of cancellations for weather, storm warnings, mechanical problem or even the very infrequent single party booking--all of which require transfers to another cruise or day. When we have the guest info, our Reservation Dept, calls and texts directly to the guest.--not computer generated. We really try to get in touch. Sorry for the breakdown in communication this time. The sailing was quiet and beautiful with multiple whale sightings. Appreciated the motorless-quiet of sailing. The crew were engaging and helpful; water and snacks quite nice. The snorkeling was wonderful; saw many green sea turtles. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. Would go again in a heartbeat.
