With only inches to spare on each side of the bus you can relish in the fact that you are not the one driving.

We took the winter tour and Jerry was our driver and guide. Jerry picked us up at our hotel, and then we found out it was just the two of us and Jerry, so we had our own personal tour guide for this trip. Jerry was an excellent and informative guide and we had so many stops for photo opportunities at places we would never have discovered if we did it ourselves. We thoroughly enjoyed Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. Unfortunately the weather had closed in when we got to the Crazy Horse Memorial, but we enjoyed the movie which explained the history and we also enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits. We did manage to get a photo of the bottom bit of the memorial. All in all it was a great tour and good value for money, and we had plenty of time at each stop.

Our nine-hour adventure began with a pickup at our hotel, a free service offered to all who stay in a Rapid City facility. The young courteous driver maneuvered safely throughout the city-wish I had asked his name. For a senior driver who may or may not be a menace in heavy traffic, this courtesy was so appreciated. First stop, breakfast-the only so-so minutes of the day. Once we boarded the bus, everything was wonderful. Perfect weather-God gets the credit for that-fabulous driver/tour guide (Clint), and breathtaking scenery; who could ask for more? A stop at Mt. Rushmore afforded us an opportunity to view this wonder from several angles. In fact, after we re-boarded the bus, Clint drove to a spot that highlighted the profile of George Washington, something we would have never seen on our own. The ride through the Iron Mountain Road and Custer State Park were unforgettable, Again, Clint provided photo opps several times along the way. There is absolutely no way that I would have driven through the tunnels on the route, but I'm so glad that we were along for the ride as Clint maneuvered through them. The trip to Crazy Horse monument was another focal point of our journey. After touring the buildings and viewing this work in progress, we headed back to to Ft. Hays for a walking tour through Dances with Wolves movie memorabilia. Antique machinery, rope makers, blacksmiths, etc., lent ambiance to the site. The evening meal and program capped the evening nicely. Lively music and clean comedy brought a smile to our faces as we sang along to country, early rock & roll tunes, and more. Well worth the money-a lifetime memory!

We went on this tour on 7/25/18 with Ken Updike. So funny & very informative. We had a great day from start to finish. Saw so much & truly enjoyed the beautiful history within Hill City. What a day of sightseeing Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, needles Highway, Sylvan Lake and going through Custard. The amazing landscapes along the drive. It was a full day with a great dinner and show after. We opted to eat our free breakfast at our hotel, but the one included looked good as well. Enjoyed walking around Dances w wolves movie set & seeing the craftsmen at work. Ken made the tour enjoyable with his knowledge & quick wit. So funny going through the tunnel. He had the whole bus laughing at his antics. I highly recommend this tour. We had a car and could have driven ourselves, but not only was it less expensive it gave us the opportunity to relax & enjoy. We had over 2 weeks still ahead of us vacationing through the west. Lots of driving so on this one we sat back and enjoyed the Full day!!
