I was a little leery paying $100/person for a day long bus tour including breakfast, the bus tour, and a chuck wagon style dinner, but it was worth it! We had two families with five teenagers and everyone really enjoyed a day of family fun together. Not only did we tour Mount Rushmore, but also got to see several sites in the Southern part of the Black Hills... Even a herd of bison alongside the road in Custar National park! It was well worth the price to hear the historical highlights, not have to drive and just enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Black Hills!! I highly recommend this tour package, but do wear good walking shoes and bring water to drink on summer days!

My husband and I had been planning on going to the Black Hills for 6 months prior to our trip. We didn't really look too much into it as we are the type to just jump in the car and 'see where the road takes us'. I told the girl at the bank we were going and she highly recommended Mount Rushmore Tours. Boy, was I glad she did. I'm not usually one for tours but, this one was awesome!! We started the morning with pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Half way through the tour, we stopped at Calvin Coolidge's 'Summer White House' where we had lunch. I recommend getting the buffet, it was excellent!! Try the Buffalo stew. A few people on the bus ordered off the menu and ended up having to eat on the bus since it took so long and we were given an hour. Dinner and a show was the perfect way to end the day. My husband wasn't all that interested in the show (before it started) and wanted to leave. I convinced him to stay and every time I looked at him, he was grinning from ear to ear. They were great!! Dan, our bus driver for the day was awesome!! He was very professional, informative and funny. We all had a great time. This is definitely the way to go if you would like to experience the Black Hills. I could not imagine driving. Plus, there is so much to see the entire trip, you would miss out on so much if you were the one driving and that would just stink!! The sights are absolutely breathtaking!!

Let's be clear: the area the tour bus takes you to is unbelievably gorgeous. The Black Hills, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse. Just remember that once you are on the tour you are stuck. If you don't happen to subscribe to the notion that "we gave the Indians all that land and they just wouldn't keep the peace", or "it's a good thing that all the buffalos were slaughtered because without that food source the Indians finally stayed where they belonged, on the reservation", if you don't like history presented as if we still lived in the year 1890 then you are not going to like the narration. But maybe you do think that Noah's Ark is a good explanation for the geology of the Black Hills. Or you even might enjoy rants against the federal government. In that case listen to 6 hours of rapid-fire, auctioneer-type, non-stop comments by the bus driver. The one star rating is for the over-all experience provided by the company who managed to totally spoil what should have been an unforgettable experience.
